Arett Buys Good Tidings

Arett Sales Acquires Good Tidings, Expands Warehouses, Hires Previous Commerce Sales Reps and Re-Opens Extra Profit Programs

Pennsauken, NJ - Arett Sales,
In response to the unprecedented recent events in our industry, Arett Sales has taken several initiatives to ensure that independent lawn and garden centers can have a strong, stable and secure supply chain partner that will be able to move products from manufacturers to retail shelves with as little disruption as possible. As a fourth generation family-owned business, Arett Sales takes great pride in supporting the industry for over sixty years, maintaining open communications with our customers, and providing fast order turnaround with high order fill rates.

The first, and most important step we have taken, has been to increase our infrastructure to support additional business and maintain our industry-leading fill rates. We have just signed leases to add significant additional space to both of our warehouses as of January 1st. Arett is now operating out of more than 600,000 square feet in our Troy, Ohio and Bristol, Connecticut warehouses, serving customers from Maine to South Carolina, west to Michigan and Illinois.

Arett has also reopened our Open House Extra Profit Programs on over 230 manufacturers until February 18, 2013. These extended programs offer independent garden centers the ability to take advantage of significant early order discounts and secure products for their shelves for the rapidly approaching spring season. Arett is also committed to adding significant new manufacturer partners that our customers are seeking.

Arett is also expanding its Seasonal Showcase to be held at the Garden State Convention Center in Somerset, NJ on February 13th and 14th to include many more Spring manufacturers so that customers will have access to extended Early Order Programs. Manufacturers that are new to Arett will also be in attendance. The Showcase will also focus on exciting product assortments by Christmas and Fall exhibitors. To register call the Arett office at 800-257-8220 or visitwww.arettshowcase.com.

Arett has been working diligently to ensure that many lawn and garden personnel who have played key roles in support of the independent retail channel remain employed within our industry. We are pleased to announce that twelve former Commerce salespeople have joined the Arett team and are right now working with customers to ensure an uninterrupted supply of products. The addition of these highly qualified, experienced salespeople to Arett's already strong and respected sales force allows us to continue to provide vital value-added services to our customers and manufacturer partners. Arett is continuing to interview and hire salespeople, merchants, key managers and support personnel.

Finally, we are pleased to announce that Arett has just entered into an agreement to acquire Commerce's Good Tidings Division. Good Tidings is a well-respected, highly successful brand that has been integral to the business of many independent retailers. Arett will continue to provide the same high quality merchandise and top notch customer service that Good Tidings customers have come to expect. The Good Tidings showroom will remain open and supported by the same knowledgeable team at its current location in Baltimore, MD. Appointments can be made by calling Dottie at 410-360-6614 or sending an email to goodtidings@arett.com. In addition, Good Tidings products will be available for purchase at the upcoming Arett Seasonal Showcase.

It is with sadness that we see the demise of a well-respected competitor and friend, but we are determined to move forward to ensure a strong, stable and secure supply chain partner for both our independent garden center customers and for our manufacturer partners. Arett Sales' mission is to continue as a leading distributor with an unmatched breadth and depth of lawn, garden, home and holiday items to meet your growing needs.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call.

  1. I am glad to hear that Dottie King will be retained and I hope that she is part of the long-term plans for Good Tidings with Arett Sales. She offers A+ customer service and unsurpassed knowledge of Christmas/Holiday goods for the IGC.

  2. I agree with the last post. It was a smart move for Arett to retain the services of Dottie King. She is one of those people that would be hard to replace. I did alot of business with Good Tidings for over 10 years. Dottie was instrumental in building that business loyalty and one of the main reasons I have stayed with them consistently over the years even though I could sometimes get better pricing on similar or the same goods. She is always there when you need something in a jam and never lets you forget the smallest items you can sometimes overlook when doing a large pre-book order. Good move Arett, congrats Dottie. Glad you will staying.
